The thing about abusive parents or an abusive partners is, they aren’t always abusive. Sometimes they’re just normal, loving and happy and in that moment it seems like everything is normal, which is why often victims of abuse say “it isn’t that bad” and “it only happened once”. Because they still do have hope that they’ll change someday. But they’re never going to change.
